What is the Rhino buglar fire safe?
The Rhino buglar fire safe... what I thought: it's a fire safe owned by a burglar and by the name of Rhino. What I said: it's the product line produced by Mutual Safe, called the Rhino Safes, that comprises six models: the RS-0, the RS-1, the RS-2, the RS-3, the RS-4, and the RS-5. It is a very popular home or office safe that features a true b-rating (1/2 inch of steel in the door and 1/4 inch of steel in the body) and a glass relocker, thus making it a pretty good "burglar" safe. As a fire safe, the Rhino has a ninety minute factory label that does not really give me a lot of comfort: it has egregiously withstood some fires in the San Diego area, but, as of this writing, it does not have a filled door so its fire protection cannot be all that great.
And there is another drawback to not having a filled door: the door is thinner so it is easier to get a good angle when prying the door. This product line would definitely benefit from having a three-way boltwork. However, if you consider the price, you can get a good value if you are concerned about burglary protection first, and fire protection next.
